Environment / Energy I will fight to get those provisions and other legislation protecting our planet passed. We must act now. Also, a key corollary to protecting the environment is to be a strong advocate for environmental justice and to make sure the burdens of climate change do not disproportionately fall on the poor and people of color. Economy In order to fund excellent services for our residents we need to be laser focused on economic development to create well-paying jobs and increase the State’s tax revenues. Bringing smart economic development and growth to District 18 and across state of Maryland will be a top priority for me in Annapolis. Arts / Culture I vigorously support assisting those in the creative arts. In our district, we are truly blessed to have two incredible venues, Roundhouse Theater and the Music Center at Strathmore. Guns With the onslaught of mass shootings and gun violence, it is important that Maryland remain in the vanguard of sensible gun control laws, gun safety and education programs. Social Services I commend my colleague and friend, Delegate Jared Solomon, for the passage of his bill related to childcare scholarships but that is just the first step in lowering the cost of childcare. Finding a solution to this problem will be a top priority for me in the House of Delegates. Education I will be a tireless advocate to ensure that every child receives a world-class education. In particular, I will focus on ESOL students and those with disabilities. Abortion / Contraception I will be a tireless advocate for women so they can make their own healthcare decisions about their own bodies. Healthcare I will advocate ensuring that people with disabilities and their families are given the support they need to thrive. I will work to lessen the burden of medical debt on families all across the state. Healthcare When I am in Annapolis, I will ensure that healthcare decisions are made by patients and their doctors, not by an insurance company. I will fight to lower prescription drug costs so that people do not have to choose between food and medication. Immigration I will stand up against any efforts to vilify immigrants or make life more challenging for them.
