Criminal Justice / Public Safety Abigail also believes that to address these crises in Virginia’s communities, we must invest in the tools and training local law enforcement officers need to detect fentanyl quickly and safely do their jobs. Guns As Governor, Abigail will support efforts to strengthen Virginia’s safe storage laws and keep firearms out of the hands of kids or those who pose a threat to themselves or others. Economy As the next Governor of Virginia, Abigail will remain focused on getting things done for Virginia’s crop and livestock producers — including addressing trade concerns, increasing access to capital, and expanding Virginia farmers’ access to domestic and foreign markets. Additionally, she will champion policies that protect Virginia’s family farms and rural economy. Education As Governor, Abigail will increase support for workforce training programs — both in K-12 schools and in community colleges — that lead to good-paying jobs for Virginia students. Abortion / Contraception Abigail believes Virginians deserve a Governor who will defend our fundamental rights. As the next Governor of Virginia, Abigail will defend the right to contraception, the right to choose, and the right to access in vitro fertilization (IVF). Drug Policy As the next Governor of Virginia, Abigail will continue to work with community leaders, law enforcement officials, faith organizations, and healthcare professionals in Virginia to provide treatment, recovery, and wraparound services to everyone impacted by substance use disorders. Guns Abigail also believes Virginia should move toward enacting a ban on the manufacturing, sale, and transfer of assault-style weapons and high-capacity magazines — actions that are proven to reduce mass shootings. Environment / Energy As Governor, Abigail will also prioritize protecting Virginia’s public lands — while maintaining hunting and fishing opportunities for Virginia families. Education As Virginia’s next Governor, Abigail will work aggressively to get schools the funding they need, address Virginia’s teacher shortage, and provide teachers with training and support. She will oppose efforts that seek to erode faith in our public schools or take public dollars out of public schools. Infrastructure / Transportation One of Abigail’s top priorities in Congress was to advance bipartisan legislation to make sure all Virginians are connected to high-speed broadband internet. As Governor, Abigail will continue to support strong investments and state-level grant programs to help more Virginians finish their homework assignments, keep up with telehealth appointments, grow their businesses, and stay in touch with their loved ones. Healthcare As Governor, Abigail will invest in Virginia’s rural healthcare workforce — from community health workers to doctors, nurses, dentists, and midwives. Healthcare Abigail will fight to protect Medicaid expansion here in the Commonwealth.
