Maryland Governor

Top Issues

Taxes / Budget Urgent needs such as infrastructure and roads will be expedited and not delayed. Wes Moore is passing to the counties’ outrageous cost increases and mandates that are necessitating increased fiscal burdens and tax considerations just to meet the needs of the growing costs of education and infrastructure. This will change under a Dan Cox administration: counties will immediately receive a reprieve from increased state mandates and costs, and our State budget will once again prioritize funding for County needs. Taxes / Budget The current Governor has been robbing Peter to pay Paul, so to speak, by increasing taxes and fees and then taking those fees for pet projects in the budget we never agreed to. By prioritizing careful spending on what matters most, we can reduce and eliminate taxes and fees, making our beautiful state competitive and reasonable for everyone. Taxes / Budget Marylanders who have worked and paid taxes here deserve to retire here with dignity. You should not be pressured to leave our state because it taxes you with burdensome property, estate, and income taxes. We can and will change this to ensure we can retire here and enjoy the fruits of our labor. Economy Your hard work should be rewarded, not punished. Maryland is one of the highest tax states in America, and Wes Moore has made this even worse for each of us. Dan believes in creating opportunities where every Marylander has a fair shot at success, and where taxes, fees, and the cost of living are slashed. Housing Dan plans an aggressive affordability program, including considering mortgage downpayment assistance and tax credits for first-time and young home buyers, slashing ridiculous building costs and permitting burdens that send our builders out of state, and increasing tax write-off options for home building and renovation costs. At the same time, we must immediately cease taxing our seniors out of their retirement homes through statewide law and executive action to limit, cap, and, where possible, eliminate property taxes. Housing We will advocate for all families across our state, ensuring that everyone, including single mothers and fathers, receives the opportunities and resources they need to thrive. When our children can afford to live here and are not forced to move to find jobs and affordable housing, then Maryland families will grow, and our State will have a more secure future. Environment / Energy We are committed to providing clean energy solutions that work without overwhelming our electric grid while reducing the outrageous increases in energy costs. Our focus is on achieving self-sustaining energy, including expanding household energy competition access, providing immediate incentives for re-opening and/or re-designing with clean LNG the Maryland power plants that the Wes Moore’s administration has closed, while studying world-class SMRs for safe and clean implementation for Maryland, rather than relying on purchases off the power grid from other states which is spiking our rates.
