Infrastructure / Transportation We need a pedestrian crosswalk with street lights at either 9-11 Ave. Or Iron Ave. So people can cross Santa Fe Ave. Safely. The businesses on the south side of Santa Fe Ave. Need this to help their businesses prosper. Infrastructure / Transportation We should transform the water fountain in front of City Hall into a Splashpad for children to enjoy during the summer months. The infrastructure is already there and it would also attract many regional visitors. Once again, foot traffic is what we need in our downtown area. It would also be lit at night which would improve the look of our downtown area. Economy Mike would open up a relationship with the New Mexico Film Industry. The industry should be introduced to all the film locations available in the Zuni Mountains and Mt. Taylor. Oppenheimer was filmed in New Mexico. Infrastructure / Transportation Grants needs a Motel downtown. It would provide much needed foot traffic for our downtown restaurants, coffee houses, museums, city hall, Chamber of Commerce and the Riverwalk. We would see 100 to 500 new visitors each day in our downtown area. The former County Courthouse would become a Convention Center and be attached to the motel. We should be working with a developer to make this happen! Environment / Energy We should partner with The US Forest Service, our regional Pueblos, The Navajo Nation, County and State to develop a Nordic Center on Mt. Taylor. During the winter, it would host a variety of events like the Quad, snowboarding, snowmobiling, and of course First American Worship Ceremonies.
