Local school board members are responsible for overseeing school operations within the district, typically including employment decisions regarding a district superintendent.
Must be of good moral character, a high school graduate or equivalent and a resident of the district. Cannot be on the governing board of a private elementary or secondary school, on the state or national Sex Offender Registry, a convicted felon or be employed by the school district. Must be a resident of the district for 90 days.
Filing Requirements
Filing fee of 2% of the base salary for the office (Major Party candidates only). Petition signature requirement of 3% of voters who cast ballots for governor in the last general election in the district (Independent and Minor Party candidates only).
