The Governor is the chief executive officer of a state and is responsible for implementing state laws and overseeing the operation of the state executive branch. The Governor oversees legislative proposals and vetoes, executive budgets, and implements executive orders.
Must be minimum 30 years old, a state resident for 7 years, and a US citizen for 10 years, and a registered voter.
Filing Requirements
Filing fee is $2418.72; signature requirement (for independent and minor party candidates) of 3% of the number of votes cast in the district for the office of governor in the last general election.
Paperwork Instructions
Submit paperwork to the Alabama Secretary of State's office. Major party candidates must also qualify with their respective state party organization.
