Eligibility Requirements

Must be minimum 25 years old, a state resident for 5 years, and a US citizen for 7 years, and a registered voter.

Filing Requirements

Filing fee is $3,200; signature requirement (for independent and minor party candidates) of 3% of the number of votes cast in the district for the office of governor in the last general election.

Paperwork Instructions

Submit paperwork to the Alabama Secretary of State's office. Major party candidates must also qualify with their respective state party organization.
