The County Sheriff is the chief law enforcement official of the county and is responsible for ensuring that all local, state, and federal laws are followed.
$69,451.00, effective January 1, 2004. Thereafter, effective July 1 of each year annual salary adjustments shall be provided to County Row Officers in an amount equal to the percentage increase, if any, in the cost of living within the New Castle County Standard Metropolitan Statistical Area (SMSA) for the previous twelve (12) month period as published by the United States Department of Labor.

No person shall be elected or appointed to an office within a county who shall not have a right to vote for a Representative in the General Assembly, and have been a resident therein one year next before his or her election or appointment, nor hold the office longer than he or she continues to reside in the county, unless herein otherwise provided. - Art.
