The Broward County School Board is elected to oversee the public schools in Broward County. Seven of the Commissioners hail from districts, and two seats (8 and 9) are elected at-large. Broward County Public Schools (BCPS) is the sixth largest school district in the nation and the second largest in the state of Florida. BCPS is Florida's first fully accredited school system since 1962. BCPS has over 271,000 students and approximately 175,000 adult students in 236 schools, centers and technical colleges, and 101 charter schools.
A candidate must be a registered voter of the county and live within the boundaries of the district.
Filing Requirements
Filing Fee is 3% of the annual salary of the office sought. Petition signature requirement is 1% of the total number of registered electors of the district, circuit, county, or other geographic entity represented by the office sought
