The County Sheriff is the chief law enforcement official of the county and is responsible for ensuring that all local, state, and federal laws are followed.
Must be at least 25 years of age, a registered voter, a holder of a high school diploma or its recognized equivalent, and a resident of the county for at least two years immediately preceding the date of qualifying for election. Must not have been convicted of or pled nolo contendere to a felony offense or any offense involving moral turpitude.
Filing Requirements
Filing fee: $2424.59 (3 percent of the minimum annual salary value for the office). Petition signature requirement: For independent and minor party candidates only: 5 percent of the total number of registered voters eligible to vote in the last election for the office.
