The County Constable is the executive enforcement branch of the county justice courts. County Constables are peace officers responsible for law enforcement and also serve legal documents like restraining orders and warrants.
The candidate shall be of good moral character, able to read and write the English language, possess a high school diploma or its equivalent as determined by the Board of Elementary and Secondary Education, and shall be an elector and resident of the ward or district from which the candidate is elected. The candidate shall not have attained the age of 70 by the date of qualification to run for office
Filing Requirements
$75 qualifying fee, plus an additional $37.50 State Central Committee fee for major party candidates, plus an additional $37.50 Parish Executive Committee fee for major party candidates if assessed by Parish Committee In lieu of filing fees, candidates can submit a petition with 100 signatures.
