State Representatives are members of the state's lower chamber, as part of the state's bicameral legislature. State representatives are responsible for voting on: bills related to public policy matters, levels for state spending, raises or decreases in taxes, and whether to uphold or override gubernatorial vetoes.
Each delegate must be a citizen of Maryland and a resident for at least one year preceding the election. A prospective legislator must have resided for the six months prior to election in the legislative district the candidate seeks to represent. Must be 21 years of age.

Filing fee is $50; signature requirement of 10,000 for unaffiliated candidates only
