State Senators are members of the state's upper chamber, as part of the state's bicameral legislature. State senators are responsible for voting on: bills related to public policy matters, levels for state spending, raises or decreases in taxes, and whether to uphold or override gubernatorial vetoes.
Eligible to vote in Minnesota, have not filed for more than one office for the upcoming primary or general election, at least 21 years old when taking office, a resident of Minnesota for at least 1 year and of the legislative district for at least 6 months before election
Filing Requirements
Filing fee is $100; signature requirement of 500.

Submit paperwork to the Secretary of State's office or the County Auditor's office in the county in which candidate resides.
