The County Legislature or Executive Board is the governing body of the county and exercises broad policy-making authority. The Board is charged with implementing policy and overseeing the county budget process and allocation.
A candidate must be 18 years of age; a citizen of the state; a resident of the county and district for at least 2 years next preceding the time when they shall become a candidate for said office; and an elector of the county in which the duties of the office are to be exercised; or (b) in the case of an office consolidated between two or more counties, an elector/resident in one of the counties in which the duties of the office are to be exercised.
Filing Requirements
Filing Fee: 0.5% of the total annual salary. Petition Signature Requirement: Independent, Minor Party, and Indigent Candidates are required to submit 5% or more of the total votes cast for the successful candidate for the same office at the last general election. Major party candidates are not required to submit any signatures
