State Representatives are members of the state's lower chamber, as part of the state's bicameral legislature. State representatives are responsible for voting on: bills related to public policy matters, levels for state spending, raises or decreases in taxes, and whether to uphold or override gubernatorial vetoes.
Qualified voters in the district from which they are chosen and a resident of the state for one-year preceding election to office.
Filing Requirements
Filing Fee is $0; signature requirement of 1% of the total resident population of the legislative district as determined by the most recent federal decennial census (major party); signature requirement of at least 2% of the resident population of the district as determined by the most recent federal decennial census, but in no case may more than three hundred signatures be required (independent)
