State Senators are members of the state's upper chamber, as part of the state's bicameral legislature. State senators are responsible for voting on: bills related to public policy matters, levels for state spending, raises or decreases in taxes, and whether to uphold or override gubernatorial vetoes.
Candidate must be a registered voter, 21 years old, and have resided within the district from which he is elected for one year prior to their election
Filing Requirements
Filing fee is 1% of annual salary of office saught; Signature requirement is 20% of total voters who voted for Governor or President at the most recent statewide election within the district, not to exceed 25% of the total number of registered voters voting for the office at the immediately preceding general election.
