The County Legislature or Executive Board is the governing body of the county and exercises broad policy-making authority. The Board is charged with implementing policy and overseeing the county budget process and allocation.
To hold any elective office in the state, a person must be a citizen of the United States, either by birth or by naturalization. Must be 18 years of age, a registered voter in the county where you are domiciled, and must have a domicile in the county for which you are chosen. In addition, to hold the office of county commissioner in the counties of Rockingham, Belknap, Grafton, Merrimack, Hillsborough, Cheshire, Sullivan, Coos, and Carroll, a person must have a domicile in the district from which he is elected at the time of his election.

Filing Fee: $10, or petition signature requirement of 50 (if qualifying without paying filing fee or running independent)
