State Representatives are members of the state's lower chamber, as part of the state's bicameral legislature. State representatives are responsible for voting on: bills related to public policy matters, levels for state spending, raises or decreases in taxes, and whether to uphold or override gubernatorial vetoes.
Candidate must be 21 years old, a citizen of New Jersey for 2 years, and a resident of the district for 1 year.
Filing Requirements
Filing fee is $0 for primary candidates; signature requirement of 100 qualified voters. For independent general candidates, filing fee is $0; signature requirement of 2% of voters for General Assembly in candidate's district in the most recent election, not exceeding 100.
