State Representatives are members of the state's lower chamber, as part of the state's bicameral legislature. State representatives are responsible for voting on: bills related to public policy matters, levels for state spending, raises or decreases in taxes, and whether to uphold or override gubernatorial vetoes.
Must be at least 21 years of age, be a registered voter, live in the district they wish to represent, not hold any office of trust or profit with the state, county, or national governments prior to election.
Filing Requirements
Filing fee is $0; signature requirement of a number of voters equal to at least 3% of the total vote of the candidate's party in the district or division, of 10 qualified voters (major party candidates), 1% of the total number of votes cast for governor at the last preceding general election in the district (minor party candidates), or a number of voters equal to at least 2% of the total number of votes cast in the district (independent candidates).
