The State Corporation Commissioner is officer in an independent department of state government with delegated administrative, legislative and judicial powers to regulate business and economic interests, including the regulation of insurance, public utilities, securities, retail franchising, and railroads.
Must be at least 30 years old, a resident of the state for at least 2 years, a registered voter, not financially interested in certain businesses such as railroad and telephone line.
Filing Requirements
Filing fee is $1,000; signature requirement of 2% of registered voters eligible to vote for candidate in the election.
