The District Courts are the trial courts of general jurisdiction in Oklahoma. The courts have unlimited original jurisdiction in both civil and criminal cases. In addition, certain administrative decisions may be reviewed as a result of statutory provision.
Candidate for District judge must have four years of experience in Oklahoma as a licensed practicing attorney or as a judge of a court of record, and must have been a registered voter and lived in the appropriate county for at least 6 months prior to the first day of the filing period.
Filing Requirements
Filing fee of $500 OR a petition signed by no fewer than 2% of the registered voters in their district.
