The City Legislature is the municipality's governing body, responsible for voting on ordinances and policies, and often is in charge of hiring a city manager.
Must at the time of their election and during their term of office be residents of the respective wards from and which they have been elected and qualified electors of the Town of West Warwick and shall hold no other paid public office or employment in the service of the town, except that of auctioneer. No member of the council shall be eligible to accept any other paid appointed town office during his or her term on the council or for a period of one (1) year thereafter.
Filing Requirements
File Declaration of Candidacy between June 25 and June 27, 2018 and Nomination Form with signatures of registered voters of the district determined by city/township (usually at least 50). *Some party positions may be endorsed by party and not need to file. Any candidate for public office, political action committee or political party committee must adhere to Rhode Island's campaign finance laws (R.I.G.L. 17-25).
