The City Legislature is the municipality's governing body, responsible for voting on ordinances and policies, and often is in charge of hiring a city manager.
All elected officials shall be qualified electors of the Town. A member of the Town Council shall hold no employment in the service of the Town of Burrillville nor shall he/she serve in any office or on any board or commission appointed by the Town Council, except in a non-voting ex officio capacity.
Filing Requirements
File Declaration of Candidacy between June 25 and June 27, 2018 and Nomination Form with signatures of registered voters of the district determined by city/township (usually at least 50). *Some party positions may be endorsed by party and not need to file. Any candidate for public office, political action committee or political party committee must adhere to Rhode Island's campaign finance laws (R.I.G.L. 17-25).
