The Treasurer is responsible for sound financial investments, oversees notes, bonds and police, teachers and municipal employee's pensions. The Treasurer's office is responsible for all of the Town's financial operations, which also include all phases of the town budget, payroll, human resources, accounts payable, computer operations and debt issuance. The Town Treasurer also serves as a member of the Budget Committee, Finance Committee and the Town of Scituate Personnel Board.
Candidate must be 18 years or older, have resided in the district for 30 days, and be a US citizen. Municipal employees may not hold an elective office in the city or town in which they are employed.
Filing Requirements
No Filing Fee. Petition signature requirement: 50 voter signatures of the voting district (applies to minor/independent candidates only).
