The County Constable is the executive enforcement branch of the county justice courts. County Constables are peace officers responsible for law enforcement and also serve legal documents like restraining orders and warrants.
In addition to the basic qualifications in the TN code, to hold the office of constable, a person must be at least 21 years of age and must be a qualified voter of the county. He or she must possess at least a high school diploma or GED certificate. Eligible candidates have not been convicted in any federal or state court of a felony; and have not been discharged from the armed forces of the United States with anything other than an honorable discharge.
