The County Legislature or Executive Board is the governing body of the county and exercises broad policy-making authority. The Board is charged with implementing policy and overseeing the county budget process and allocation.
A candidate for the office of county commissioner shall be a resident from the magisterial district for which he or she is seeking election: (1) By the last day to file a certificate of announcement pursuant to section seven, article five, chapter three of this code; or (2) At the time of his or her appointment by the county executive committee or the chairperson of the county executive committee.
Filing Requirements
File a pre-candidacy registration form before rasing money for candidacy. File certificate of announcement, and finance reports. Filing fee - 1% of the annual salary and based on county classification. To waive filing fee - signatures of four voters registered in the political subdivision the candidate seeks to represent are required for each dollar of the filing fee. Non party candidates signature requirement - not less than one percent of the entire vote cast at the last preceding general election for the office being sought but never less than twenty-five
