State Representatives are members of the state's lower chamber, as part of the state's bicameral legislature. State representatives are responsible for voting on: bills related to public policy matters, levels for state spending, raises or decreases in taxes, and whether to uphold or override gubernatorial vetoes.
State representative must be at least 21 years old, a U.S. citizen, a qualified elector of the State, and have resided in the district from which elected for at least 12 months prior to election.
Filing Requirements
Filing fee is $25; signature requirement of at least 2 percent of the total number of votes cast for the office in that particular district in the last general election if an independent candidate.
